The Ladies of Charity was founded by St. Vincent de Paul, along with St. Louise de Marillac and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton to serve the poor and the needy. The organization is over 400 years old and worldwide in over 54 countries. It seeks to open the call of Christ through the Church.
Prayer Shawl
Prayer Shawl ministry meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 2:00-3:00 pm in McGovern Hall at Assumption Church to knit/crochet shawls for those in our parish community and beyond. These shawls are given to people as a way to comfort them in sadness or illness, or to celebrate them during happy times, like anniversaries or the birth of a new baby. Each shawl is made with a prayer for the recipient. Please let us know if you would like to be the recipient of a prayer shawl or know someone who could benefit from one. Please call or email Linda, [email protected] or 412-443-5841.
Prayer Line
The Prayer Line offers a source of comfort and strength for anyone requesting the support of our church family through prayer during times of difficulty, decision, illness, hospitalization, and loss of a loved one. Our prayer line is available to everyone Please call the parish office at 412-766-6660 with your requests, or email the Ladies of Charity at [email protected].
Membership
All ladies of Regina Coeli Parish are invited to become members. Come and join us! To become a member of the Ladies of Charity, please contact Janice Kyle at [email protected]
We currently have 18 members. We are women of all ages, professions, and retirees who want to serve our community. We welcome all additional members!
We meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in McGovern Hall at Assumption Church.
To become official members of the Ladies of Charity, there is an investiture that occurs each April or May at St. Paul Cathedral where all the investees from the Diocese of Pittsburgh Ladies of Charities meet with the Bishop to invest them into our National Organization. It is a beautiful ceremony. We ask our members to attend at least two meetings and to assist in our mission before becoming invested.
