Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI wrote that:  “Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a Person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction. Saint John's Gospel describes that event in these words: ‘God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should ... have eternal life’” (3:16). 

The most important way to encounter the Person, Jesus Christ, is through the Sacraments that He gave us. Once we have encountered Jesus Christ in the Mass, in the confessional, in adoration of His Body and Blood in the Eucharist, then we can go out to our communities and preach the Good News by our lives.

The Sacraments are the way that He wants to meet us where we are and transform us into the men and women that He wants us to be – because we were not made to be mediocre or half-hearted.  Each one of us was made for glory – “the glory that will be revealed in us…the revelation of the sons and daughters of God”(Romans 8:19).  And God will accept nothing less for us.
